Spanish Courses in Santiago: about Santiago, Chile

Learn Spanish in Santiago, cultural and political capital of Chile

Santiago de Chile has a population of 5 million people and is located in the central valley of Chile at the foot of the Andes.

It is a safe and modern city with a warm Mediterranean climate with average summer daytime temperatures of 80-85 degrees (29 °C). In the evenings it always cools off comfortably. It hardly rains from October to April, and from May to September we have a lot more sunny than rainy days, what makes Santiago a perfect place for having holidays and study Spanish the whole year round.

Within a day's travel of Santiago, you can visit Mount Aconcagua, the highest mountain in the Americas, many vineyards, the beach, the best Chilean ski resorts or the picturesque harbour city of Valparaíso and the well-known sea-bath and Festival city Viña del Mar.

The variety of cultural offerings is some of the best all of South America.

«Santiago de Chile is a city of contrasts. It's a modern metropolis whose shining international air terminal greets foreign bankers rushing to invest their money in one of South America's most dynamic economies. At the same time, struggling street vendors board city buses to hawk everything from pins and needles to pens and ice cream, and housemaids ride for hours to scrub floors and change diapers in exclusive suburbs.

Santiago is first and foremost a city of commerce, but visitors will find much to enjoy in the city and its surroundings. The town takes the cake when it comes to excursions - less than an hour from the city centre are world-class ski resorts and white-water rafting opportunities. Few capitals can match Santiago's options for a free afternoon, day or weekend.» (Lonely Planet)
